Scope and Content
[Source of metadata - Steven Kotze for FHYA, 2024, using information from Paul Mills of Clarke's Africana & Rare Books: A letter from Charles Duncan Griffith, Governor's Agent and Chief Magistrate of British Basutoland, written from the British Residency in Leribe, Lesotho, to Albert Allison, commander of the Natal Field Force. The letter was written on one side of an A5 note in pencil and reads: "My dear Allison, I send you a tourist bag found upon one of the [rascally?] Rebels, inside it you will find a pocket book belonging to Major Durnford and an account against Capt. Barter for 11/, also a cheque book belonging I suppose to one of the party. Yours truly Charles Griffith."]
