Object description [Source - Nothando Shabalala for FHYA, 2023: 1 doll : material: glass bottle, textile, thread, yarn, plant fibers, glass (beads), leather ; technique: beadwork, mixed-media assemblage ; colour: textile - brown, dark blue/white , yarn - natural (brown), beads - white/red-orange (transparent)/light blue/pink/primary yellow/blue/indigo blue/bright red (transparent/translucent)/red-on-white (translucent)/maroon-on-white (translucent)/green (transparent)/blue-green/black/vaseline yellow ; cylindrical (Note: the body is adorned by vertical beaded rows (from the shoulder leading to the mid-section and to the bottom of the bottle; where the beaded part ends) along bands of coloured beads. The colour of the cloth used on the neck of the bottle is different from the one used at the bottom. The cloth used at the bottom of the doll is sewn onto woven hessian - which acts like a mold that holds together the shape of the beaded part) ; dimensions: 34.5cm (H) x 27cm (C)]
