Title

Baleka ka Mpitikazi, Testimony from 'The James Stuart Archive of Recorded Oral Evidence Relating to the History of the Zulu and Neighbouring Peoples', Volume 1 (Ant-Lyl)

[ Source of title : Editor, John Wright, notes in an email to FHYA in 2020: In working on the JSA, vol. 1, pp. 4 et seq, the editors read Stuart's handwritten notes as giving Baleka's father as Mpitikazi. A re-read of the notes makes clear that it should be Mpitikezi. In addition, Stuart makes clear at a particular point in the original text (Stuart Papers, File 58, nbk. 16, p. 83) that the 'p' and the 't' in the name should both be aspirated, so in modern orthography the name would be spelt Mphithikezi. This is the form that the editors should have used in the endnotes. ]
