Attributions and conjectures [Source - Michelle House for FHYA, 2020: The glass beads collected by Whitelaw were wrapped individually or as sets in paper marked with the 5x5 metre square in, or survey point at, which the bead(s) was/were found. The squares are designated by the survey points of their corners. The photographs here illustrate the beads and their survey points written by Whitelaw. Glass beads were introduced to southern Africa at around AD800. They signify trade and interaction with the Far East. Archaeologists have produced typological analyses of beads in this region and can identify relative dates of the beads' introduction by the colour, shape and size of them]
