Description [Source - Debra Pryor for FHYA, 2022, using spreadsheet created by Nessa Leibhammer for SAHRIS, from JAG materials in 2015: Object description: Rectangular crossbar slightly curved and decorated near the narrow ends with a short row of zigzags carved in relief. Lugs are half cylinders running front to back with a central ridge. Three short rectangular pillars in a row, the central one being broadest, rest on two rectangulat blocks and a bentral open square. The blocks are decorated with and ovoid depression. It appears that the other pieces have broken off, but the base has been smoothed and the headrest stands fairly firmly.e Object form type: Headrest; Object material type: Wood; Technique: Carved; Colours: Brown; Object age: late 19th/early 20th century; Production place: Transvaal (now Limpopo Province); Cultural association: Transvaal Tsonga; Place of use: Transvaal (now Limpopo Province); Provenance: Collected at Elim, Transvaal c1930.]
