Description [Source - Debra Pryor for FHYA, 2022, using spreadsheet created by Nessa Leibhammer for SAHRIS, from JAG materials in 2015: Object description: Retangular crossbar, curved and decorated near the flattened narrow ends with a series of incised parallel lines. One broken lug. The other a semi-circle facing front with a small hole pierced through it.Two short rectangular pillars resting on a rectangular block. The pillars are carved front and back with a series of horizontal rounded pleats, and the block is decorated front and back with two rows of incised horizontal lines. Base is ovoid with a pronounced waist cut into centre front anf back in which is a small semi-circle. Object form type: Headrest; Object material type: Wood; Technique: Carved; Colours: Brown; Object age: late 19th/early 20th century; Production place: Transvaal (now Limpopo Province); Cultural association: Transvaal Tsonga; Place of use: Transvaal (now Limpopo Province); Provenance: Collected at Elim, Transvaal c1930.]
