Description [Source - Debra Pryor for FHYA, 2022, using spreadsheet created by Nessa Leibhammer for SAHRIS, from JAG materials in 2015: Object description: Upper section rectangular, curved and decorated on the raised sections at the narrow ends witrh a row of diamoinds carved in relief. No lugs. Column rough flat front-facing circle, flattened at top and bottom with three rectangular openings cut into the centre. It is decorated on all sides with two rows of incised diamonds following the edges of the pillars. Base rectangular, slightly convex and decorated with a double rows of incised triangles Object form type: Headrest; Object material type: Wood; Technique: Carved; Colours: Brown; Object age: late 19th/early 20th century; Production place: Transvaal (now Limpopo Province); Cultural association: Transvaal Tsonga; Place of use: Transvaal (now Limpopo Province); Provenance: Collected at Elim, Transvaal c1930.]
