Description [Source - Debra Pryor for FHYA, 2022, using spreadsheet created by Nessa Leibhammer for SAHRIS, from JAG materials in 2015: Object description: Crossbar flat and only slightly curved upwards at ends. These are each decorated with two rows of carved squares. Three chunky rectangular pillars - two at the ends and one in the middle rest on the ground and are covered on all their outside surfaces with raise bump-like designs (amasumpa). These are in geometric rows Object form type: headrest; Object material type: wood, pokerwork; Technique: Carving, pokerwork; Colours: Brown, black; Dimension comment: 14 x 35,8 x 8; Object age: 19th to early 20th century; Production place: KwaZulu-Natal; Cultural association: Northern Nguni (Zulu); Place of use: KwaZulu-Natal; Provenance: Bought from basket collector near Hluhluwe, early 1980s.]
