[Source - Henry Fagan for FHYA, 2021: Written by John Omer-Cooper ahead of the Mfecane Aftermath conference in September 1991. Copies were printed and distributed for the conference's attendees, including Jan-Bart Gewald. The paper remained in Gewald's possession after the conference. C. 2014, he donated it along with all of the other Mfecane Aftermath conference papers to Leiden University Library. In 2021, Gewald's deposit of Mfecane Aftermath conference papers was uncovered by Ettore Morelli of FHYA. Following a request by FHYA, the papers were digitised by Leiden University Libraries for use in the FHYA's Spotlight on the Mfecane presentation.
