About | The Archive in Pictures

This digital curation is a creative reconfiguration of a book chapter titled, ‘The Archive in Pictures: A Visual Essay’, in which Justine Wintjes, from the KwaZulu-Natal Museum, a collaborating partner of the Five Hundred Year Archive, explores the excitement, diversity and complexity of experiences of working with and in the ‘archive’. The chapter appears in the book Archives of Times Past: Conversations About South Africa’s Deep History, edited by Cynthia Kros, John Wright, Mbongiseni Buthelezi and Helen Ludlow (Johannesburg: Wits University Press, 2022).
