History
[Source - Chloe Rushovich for FHYA, 2022, using the National Library of South Africa's digital collections website: Ilanga lase Natal was a English Zulu weekly newspaper founded by John Langalibalele Dube at Ohlange in April 1903. It later moved to Durban. Dube controlled the newspaper until 1935, when Bantu Press bought 50% of subsidiary Ilanga lase Natal (Pty.) Ltd.. In 1941, Bantu Press acquired all the shares in the company. The subsidiary company was liquidated in 1953, and the newspaper was placed directly under the control of Bantu Press. In 1962, a subsidiary of the Argus Printing and Publishing Company, the World Printing and Publishing Company, took control of the paper. The title of the newspaper was shortened to Ilanga from March 1965. In 1976, it was placed directly under the control of the Argus Company.]
