Schreuder published in Palgrave Macmillan: George McCall Theal, was the most prolific and influential South African historian, archivist and genealogist of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. After an extended teaching, administrative and archival career, Theal came from the 1880s to draft a massive multi-volume History of southern Africa's huge colonial life. He took the 19th century as his vantage point and portrayed the colonial experience. Claiming to offer and impartial and scientific account of the making of 'South Africa', he developed a highly personal view of that history of imperial contact and conquest.]
